Little Spider, Big Spider..


After several weeks of my beachmobile being ill, she is up and about and running magnificently! Yesterday after work I headed out to the middle of the island to see what sunset had in store .


We are full into winter weather here, so the skies were cloudy and gray.. I didn't care, I was going anyway!

I notice i spend alot of time in the bushes taking pictures, whether I am at the ocean or not, I can always find a bush I need to stand in to get the picture I want.



Yesterday was no different I found myself again crawling thru the bushes! I accidentally ran into a spider web. ( I sooo dislike that feeling) I just happened to see the spider, he immediately became busy busy repairing what i had messed up.


I clicked this picture and then for unknown reasons dropped my camera, lens first in the mud....


When i got home I took a look at the picture I took. Do you see the WEB the clouds are making?? ( Laughing ) Well no I wonder i dropped my camera! Big spider in the sky had his eye on little spider in the bushes !





After cleanup my little camera is okay.......


I am an island gal......

Dropping one's camera is always a scary thought. Glad yours are okay. I have a fear for spiders and other critters, but when looking at them through the camera lense, that fear disappears.

i hear you Fire! I know u should of heard me scream not when i felt the spider web BUT when i dropped my camera!!

The Splash

The water in the Bay has calmed down enough for me to swim into the big cave at the bay. I enter the crystal clear water of a little bay that's sits within the Big bay and made my way toward the cave. The tides are still high, the ocean not quite ready for the low low tides of summer. I enter the big cave that is still partially filled with water. The tide is pushing me in and out of the cool cave like a ride at the carnival! In and out... in and out of the cave, all the while I'm trying like crazy to get a picture from the inside of the cave looking out. It was on my 20Th trip with the tide back into the cave that I heard the splash behind me. Now, for me a splash behind me causes my heart to immediately start racing. Why? well when sharks feed they have a certain tail movement that causes a splash. I hear the splash and my brain goes into overdrive, "LANI", my brain screams, "DON'T look back,just swim to shore".. i feel my legs getting weak.. "LAN...

Swims with Scissors

The weather here on Oahu has been yucky for the last week so I was surprised yesterday the 15th to see that the breezes had returned , the sky was blue and when i checked the surf report the waves on the North shore had calmed way down. I ventured down to the turtle rock i had been having so much fun at. I had seen the turtle below on my first day at the turtle rock. He had gotten snagged in fishing line and it was all over his neck, head and flippers. It so upset me I got out of the water, hurried into the bustling, little beach town of Haleiwa, to get the number to the turtle hot line here on the island. When i got home I threw a pair of first aid scissors in my beach bag and made a mental note that if I saw a turtle who was in trouble I would do the best i could to help.
