Thats Summer....

Its been painfully slow, but we are getting there!

The ocean is still a little rough...  

The mountains stll green from the winter rains...

Harmless....

The huge waves of winter have subsided.... leaving clean beautiful blue water... I see this turtle coming towards me in the blue blue waters of Waimea Bay, Oahu

 he reaches a certain point and puts his flippers in neutral... tilts his head and looks at me... He realizes I'm not a shark, so he continues on.... to his left , on my right...

 he swims right around me...he was a beautiful little turtle...

I loved the fact that to him, I appeared harmless....  

Summer is around the corner and i am delighted that in the ocean... ..

"IFY"

 Hazy, cloud filled skies...........muted sunsets.... large winter waves still plummeting the North Shore of Oahu.  Cold days and night mingled with an occasional sweltering day....

 Bright blues and greens cover up and masked the fact that this winter we have had less  rain...

 Don't get me wrong.. its beautiful here on the island of Oahu, above and under water... but you just know, u can see and feel the weather is a little off, "IFY" i call it....

If you have not taken the time to check out this magnificent planet in your area , please do.... permanent "IFY"  May be right around the corner...

Turbo Turtle....

March 20th marked the beginning of spring....unfortunately winter is not ready to leave the island... Considering the waves behind this guy, I marveled that he had manage to get up on the beach....i dubbed him "Turbo Turtle ". I figured he went for it and turboed his way up the shoreline.

 

Its really beautiful out there right now but the cold water and wind driven currents along with the high surf  still say winter water.... I wait as patiently as i can for spring to really kick in... its been a LONG winter here on Oahu.    I kinda wish i had some of that Turbo Turtle power....

March Will End the Madness....

 March .... finally ... the island of Oahu is green from  the rain of winter...

 although the water is still cold.... its getting easier to see under there....

 the sunrises are gearing up for spring...... u can just see it.......

the sunsets cool and serene.....Mother Nature knows... the madness of winter ends in March.... Spring and summer are around the corner!!





I am one happy happy Island Gal.......

Chasing Rainbows

February 17, 2013.... Its my day off from work... so i did what every other normal nut does...

I spent the morning chasing rainbows....

Rainbows are amazing entities.... they appear and disappear in the skies over Oahu like they are participating in some big sky game....

all these rainbows taken miles apart caused me to laugh out loud every time i caught one with my camera.....


 

who knows maybe someday I will find that 'Pot of Gold" .....

Fantabulous Febuary....

 While parts of the world are covered in white....Hawaii remains Blue....

 and gold.....

 it has not been raining as much or as hard this February  2013 as it usually does.....

 the color of the water on the west side of Oahu is just magic....

 

the sunsets magnificent.....

 

 

 

All in all its just been so far Febuary Fantabulous!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Luck or Bow?

Its rained hard and often here on Oahu this January 2013.  That much rain causes the water to run into the ocean and cloud it up. Visibility goes to zero..

 

 So I found myself in a dilemma one morning when i wasn't sure whether i should go left to the west, or right to the North... There a a rainbow on my right so I followed it north...

 that rainbow led me to the clearest cleanest winter water on the North Shore Oahu I have ever seen...

 I didn't know these turtles but it sure was a pleasure to be able to see them...

Either that rainbow knew something I didnt or I got real lucky!!

Winter Wonderland

After the craziest weather i have ever seen here on Oahu, yesterday was like a dream..... We are in the throes of Winter.... only the bravest can swim... hehehe....

So heres my question.... When will the WINTER water calm down?... and then I WONDER... when will I be able to leave the LAND and swim again? Winter Wonderland........

Into the sunset.....

I stood camera in hand smiling. The weather on Oahu has been hot hot hot... The island held prisoner by VOG... that's Volcanic Haze... but on this evening the skies had cleared and I smiled as i watched another winter sunset...

The skies over the island of Oahu lit like a fine Christmas Ornament..its one of the beautiful things about a Hawaiian winter... I hop into my car, still smiling and ride off into the sunset.....
