So So Worth It....

I stood here yesterday  4-11-14 and remembered another day several years ago. I started right here where the sand and this picture begin, picking up trash off the beautiful beach at Makua, west side Oahu. A week day, NO ONE was on the beach. As i walked, I became livid... sooo much trash!!! I was soon talking to myself just under the volume of a scream... For some reason I looked to my left and into the water... There right on the shoreline were 4 big dorsal fins swimming along, following either my footsteps or my yelling... =I Immediately, i felt and held back, the human compulsion to run into the water, try and see if i could see them, swim with them. The size and deep dark color of their dorsal fins told me they were Bottle nose Dolphins and i knew right there that if i went into the water they would be gone. I had been dragging a garbage bag, I stopped, my body motionless..."Hi u guys!! What yah doing??" No answer, so i just pretended i was busy. I continued with my trash pickup, this time I was completely silent, watching while i walked, my very silent ocean companions. they stayed with me awhile and then submerged, silent, in stealth mode, gone in a blink..... It was for me another pivotal moment in my life... I continue to pick up trash off the shoreline, i wont stop. On the days when i'm tired, grumpy or overwhelmed from the amount of trash i'm picking up.... I pause for a moment on the shoreline and I remember those 4 large beautiful dorsal fins ..... keeping trash out of the ocean??? so so worth it....

The Artistry of April

I think I say it every year... March, April and May,  can be the most beautiful months here in Hawaii Nei..  The islands burst into green and blue and white....

The oceans animals move back into shallow waters and spend more time on the surface of the  Ocean basking in the sun of Spring time...

Planning on a visit to the islands? choose the Artistry of April!!

Stole my Heart

February and March...the rainy season in Hawaii....the islands turn completely green. With this in mind, I visited a Botanical Garden near where i live in the town of Wahiawa, Oahu  and it was while i was there, walking ad mist the green green of our island, that I fell in love , with a TREE!!

I actually put my ear to this tree, I fully expected to hear a beating heart for this tree had stolen my heart!! Magnificent Tall Tall Eucalyptus Tree, ages old, full of strength....

An Angels Stance

The human body, spirit and mind is a complex thing. I watch as people gather for sunset... they talk, they laugh, they smile, they dont smile, they holler at the kids, they holler at their significant other... they fiddle with this , they fiddle with that..u know normal human activity..Then as if a silent alarm has gone off, all of a sudden, just out of the blue, Every EYE is on the Horizon, in unison!....Its always very profound because they don't appear to be aware that all around them, life has come to a standstill... that's whats going on in this capture.. I call it An Angels Stance....

The Cure....

I was super, on the verge of screaming, irritated...  The beach was crowded. I had to park  a good distance away from the entrance to the ocean and walk... so seriously grumbling to myself , I took a short cut through the Hawaiian Jungle... I was still mumbling to my self when i noticed the birds had gone silent... the gentle breezes had stopped too.

Then i saw it... the light from the sun coming thru the jungle... I simply, quickly and quietly, lost my foul attitude....

as I stepped out of the jungle this was what i saw...
The Cure for a foul mood.... try Mother Nature....

..... A Choice...Thankful Always...

Frantic... the best way to describe the people i observed in the last 2 days...I  held myself back, not willing to "Catch" the Frantic Fever.... I spent Thanksgiving full of thanks in the place I call home... Waimea Bay Oahu.

Here is the amazing part... 1. we are in winter... huge surfs pounds the North Shore of Oahu  during this time of year. But Yesterday Thanksgiving Day 2013, the Bay, took a sigh of relief, and gave to those who visited her a rare treat... Calm almost summer like water.... IT was Magnificent!
Surprisingly, there were alot of people on the beach... and  it occurred to me  that THERE WAS NOT ONE CASE OF FRANTIC FEVER ON THE BEACH.....

The water was delightful, the weather epic, the people happy.   As we move into Christmas and the door of 2014, we again will be faced to choose..  Choice is a wonderful thing, it signifies freedom and I have fallen in love with the choice of leaving the frantic and its fever behind , embracing what has always been there.... The positively peaceful power of Mother Nature....

On this day after Thanksgiving here in the US, I send to each of you, those who read this blog, I send to you, my Thankfulness and my gratitude. You have enriched my life and filled it with joy.  I remain humble, grateful, joyous, and peaceful, not just on one day but every day .

Forbidden Land...

Forbidden Land... the Hills and the Valley of Makua, Oahu... owned by the United States Government,  I mistakenly climb up to an ancient Hawaiian site thinking it was State property.. I wanted for soooo long to see what this group of rocks were, and if my ancestors could see the ocean from there... To my delight i saw that yes, they could of stood right where i was standing and see blue blue blue for miles!!! there is only one road in and out of this remote area and it cuts thru the land like a knife.. can u imagine the mystical magic that this place was years ago?! .... I had a few minutes of pure mystic up here before reality set in.  I was on government property, U.S. government property.... a NONO ... I climbed back down the mountain, thankful that I was able to see where those who came before me stood.

p.s.  This land, this valley has been the scene of much debate thru the years. The US Army used Makua Valley, Oahu  for live bomb training, the Hawaiian activist wanted this valley handed back to the Hawaiians. A compromise was set , the Army no longer  bombs this valley..... because this area is so remote the tour buses don't come out this way....BUT dolphins tours come out to the Ocean u see in this pic.. if you find yourself out there, look up and beyond the shoreline, to the mountain and the valley... this place, Makua Valley, Oahu, very sacred, very Hawaiian, very much Forbidden Land.
