20 Miles in Two Hours


I love my little camera. LOL shes not high end but i carry her everywhere with me.





The housing that holds the camera needed new O rings, those are the rubber pieces that keep the water out of her. I had to go to Honolulu for those.


Honolulu is only 20- 25 miles away. IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS to go those miles.. ONE WAY!





Seriously, our inability to work together to solve Oahus traffic problem,to work out a solution for the good of all of us is simply.......






DISGUSTING.

The first time Eric took me on the freeway I laughed... The speed limit is what got me... Over here its 65.. and some parts higher... I told him u guys have more of a highway... also u need more lanes and another freeway... U and I know the problem is the population and the need of the builders to keep building and killing off those gorgeous hillsides.
Remember when that army crane hit the overpass last year or so? E. was stuck in that traffic and called me since he had a lot of time to kill!. lol

When I was in Oahu, the one thing that struck me was the traffic...! Who knew...!

LOL Chrissy, it is just so awful! I live in Wahiawa, work in Mililani, 10 minutes tops to get to work. I cannot IMAGINE how awful it is for the people who work in Honolulu!

Maithri! LOL I was thinking while sitting in this mess, i SHOULD of swum home !
If i had my way we would have a HUG water canal, everyone would bogie board to work!

Fire, she just a little inexpensive camera but i love her to death. You should of seen me standing next to all the pros with their MEGA cameras taking big wave pics! I got some weird looks! =0) I like pro photographers they see things differently!

That is bad, really bad. I always imagine your islands as quiet and peaceful and serene, never even giving traffic a thought, less so traffic problems.

The Splash

The water in the Bay has calmed down enough for me to swim into the big cave at the bay. I enter the crystal clear water of a little bay that's sits within the Big bay and made my way toward the cave. The tides are still high, the ocean not quite ready for the low low tides of summer. I enter the big cave that is still partially filled with water. The tide is pushing me in and out of the cool cave like a ride at the carnival! In and out... in and out of the cave, all the while I'm trying like crazy to get a picture from the inside of the cave looking out. It was on my 20Th trip with the tide back into the cave that I heard the splash behind me. Now, for me a splash behind me causes my heart to immediately start racing. Why? well when sharks feed they have a certain tail movement that causes a splash. I hear the splash and my brain goes into overdrive, "LANI", my brain screams, "DON'T look back,just swim to shore".. i feel my legs getting weak.. "LAN...

Swims with Scissors

The weather here on Oahu has been yucky for the last week so I was surprised yesterday the 15th to see that the breezes had returned , the sky was blue and when i checked the surf report the waves on the North shore had calmed way down. I ventured down to the turtle rock i had been having so much fun at. I had seen the turtle below on my first day at the turtle rock. He had gotten snagged in fishing line and it was all over his neck, head and flippers. It so upset me I got out of the water, hurried into the bustling, little beach town of Haleiwa, to get the number to the turtle hot line here on the island. When i got home I threw a pair of first aid scissors in my beach bag and made a mental note that if I saw a turtle who was in trouble I would do the best i could to help. I am not a professional and I know that good intentions are not always enough. You have to KNOW what you are doing. I could hurt a turtle more than help it so i needed to use my head.
