On this Planet, at this Time, In this Moment

As i sit here typing my bones just ache. My muscles scream everytime i move anything and I think the most prominent thought in my mind is, " I am getting too old to do this." Hours of treading water and swimming in fast bursts is wearing on my body. LOL .. the other alternative is to sit on shore and watch from a distance and that is just not even in any vocabulary I know right now.



So i will continue as long as I can to swim among the dolphins. They came again today.


I always marvel at the joy they carry with them. Today i saw grown men crying with delight. I saw children wide-eyed with wonder and I felt the water move around me as my friends the dolphins began to play with me.




After awhile I looked down at the black screen on my camera and realized my battery was dead. sigh .. The dolphins didnt mind so i continued singing thru my snorkel ,rejoicing that I live on this planet, at this time, in this moment.



Reading the blogs I follow I see so much beauty not only in nature but in the words and actions of the human spirit. May we all continue to rejoice on this planet, at this time, in this moment.

You really have a connection with these dolphins. I never cme upon them when I snorkeled.This is at Waimea isn't it ?

yes Dave =0) Naialani means heavenly dolphin. I truly believe I needed the change in my life , the way I thought and the way I lived. This was and continues to be no accident=0)

The Splash

The water in the Bay has calmed down enough for me to swim into the big cave at the bay. I enter the crystal clear water of a little bay that's sits within the Big bay and made my way toward the cave. The tides are still high, the ocean not quite ready for the low low tides of summer. I enter the big cave that is still partially filled with water. The tide is pushing me in and out of the cool cave like a ride at the carnival! In and out... in and out of the cave, all the while I'm trying like crazy to get a picture from the inside of the cave looking out. It was on my 20Th trip with the tide back into the cave that I heard the splash behind me. Now, for me a splash behind me causes my heart to immediately start racing. Why? well when sharks feed they have a certain tail movement that causes a splash. I hear the splash and my brain goes into overdrive, "LANI", my brain screams, "DON'T look back,just swim to shore".. i feel my legs getting weak.. "LAN...

Swims with Scissors

The weather here on Oahu has been yucky for the last week so I was surprised yesterday the 15th to see that the breezes had returned , the sky was blue and when i checked the surf report the waves on the North shore had calmed way down. I ventured down to the turtle rock i had been having so much fun at. I had seen the turtle below on my first day at the turtle rock. He had gotten snagged in fishing line and it was all over his neck, head and flippers. It so upset me I got out of the water, hurried into the bustling, little beach town of Haleiwa, to get the number to the turtle hot line here on the island. When i got home I threw a pair of first aid scissors in my beach bag and made a mental note that if I saw a turtle who was in trouble I would do the best i could to help. I am not a professional and I know that good intentions are not always enough. You have to KNOW what you are doing. I could hurt a turtle more than help it so i needed to use my head.
