Tora,Tora,Tora

I was driving home from the beach on Monday, and as always I looked a little to the right while driving. I like to look at the mountain range. I started to smile because at a certain point in that range my dad came to my mind. Years back a movie called Tora, Tora, Tora was being filmed on Oahu, and they used Japanese zeros during the filming. One particular day i remember them flying over our house. My dad being from the Pearl Harbor era, he had friends on the ships that sat in the Harbor, looked up, saw the movie set zeros, paused for a second stare and then started running .... LOL reflex reaction !!! I teased him about it for years, he would just give me a silent glare ...LOL. On this day that memory caused me to pull over and stop the car. I stood on the door sill of the car and took a picture of Kolekole Pass, the dip in the mountain range where the real Japanese Zeros came thru years ago. On this day I took this picture with my dad in mind. That time, that day so long ago, never ever left him.

Oh, golly. That must have been a really horrible day for everyone in Hawaii. Oh, gosh!

It took awhile for many to understand what was happening. From the tales the older folks tell they were all really scared.

Returning Home

It is time for me to return to the North Shore full time. It is at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, that I sit and wait for the tell tale ripples of water that signal the DOLPINS have arrived! The water calming down from the massive winter waves that just a few weeks ago pounded this side of the island, i return to her shores full time with glee! I will be subjected to the teasing of the regulars at the Bay who jokingly say, "Wheres the dolphins, Lani?" I always say in my mind, "There are far worse places I would need to wait!" LOLOL. This weekend the Bay gave a sneak performance of how magnificent her waters will be! Clear beautiful water, clean beautiful sand, the sun creating stain glass window like patterns on the sandy sea floor. And if that isn't enough the days of spring and summer on the North shore of Oahu, end with sunsets that are just magic!

Dolphin Day

They swam by me at mach speed swimming into the bay.. they turned around and passed me again checking out my orange swimsuit. I dont think they like it...LOL... It was good to see them.. they played tag with me for awhile, back and forth, back and forth. Finally exhausted i hauled myself out of the water and watched as they came close to shore , if i would of stayed in the water i would of got some major pics. I was just too tired,they are much much better swimmers than i am... lol...till next time.... I am an island gal.......
