Happy Mothers Day.....

WE were so close there was not one thing we did not know about each other. We drove my father crazy, talking on the phone for hours 3 times a day, for 30 plus years! He'd say , 'Take 2 aspirin and go back to bed!". Her spirit was so strong that even her passing HAS NOT diminished our closeness. I feel her many times out there in the water with me. She would LOVE these pictures! Because I knew her so well i know that she would want you to know...


Her and my father had a plan..... it came to pass...


Her and my father had a vision....i am still a work in progress...



Her and my father their whole being, the reason they lived, was for the Lord Jesus Christ....



I cannot mention my love for my mother without mentioning her Love for God. As long as i can remember, my parents Bibles were always together. One on top of the other ready in a flash for them to grab and use.


They still sit this way in MY home today.... may I, my moms daughter, remember what we had, cherish what only her and I knew, and may I strive to live for the Lord...





Happy Mother Day my friends..because you love me... my mother would of loved each of you!

I've been away at a tourism exhibition for the 4th Mother's Day in a row, but organised for the kids to do "breakfast" in bed. They are still small so its nothing elaborate, but its the thought that counts. I hope that one day my kids would have the type of relationship with me and my wife as you had with your mom.

The Splash

The water in the Bay has calmed down enough for me to swim into the big cave at the bay. I enter the crystal clear water of a little bay that's sits within the Big bay and made my way toward the cave. The tides are still high, the ocean not quite ready for the low low tides of summer. I enter the big cave that is still partially filled with water. The tide is pushing me in and out of the cool cave like a ride at the carnival! In and out... in and out of the cave, all the while I'm trying like crazy to get a picture from the inside of the cave looking out. It was on my 20Th trip with the tide back into the cave that I heard the splash behind me. Now, for me a splash behind me causes my heart to immediately start racing. Why? well when sharks feed they have a certain tail movement that causes a splash. I hear the splash and my brain goes into overdrive, "LANI", my brain screams, "DON'T look back,just swim to shore".. i feel my legs getting weak.. "LAN...

Swims with Scissors

The weather here on Oahu has been yucky for the last week so I was surprised yesterday the 15th to see that the breezes had returned , the sky was blue and when i checked the surf report the waves on the North shore had calmed way down. I ventured down to the turtle rock i had been having so much fun at. I had seen the turtle below on my first day at the turtle rock. He had gotten snagged in fishing line and it was all over his neck, head and flippers. It so upset me I got out of the water, hurried into the bustling, little beach town of Haleiwa, to get the number to the turtle hot line here on the island. When i got home I threw a pair of first aid scissors in my beach bag and made a mental note that if I saw a turtle who was in trouble I would do the best i could to help. I am not a professional and I know that good intentions are not always enough. You have to KNOW what you are doing. I could hurt a turtle more than help it so i needed to use my head.
