HOBO

Waimea Bay. I call her home. She is an amazing beach. I get great satisfaction and a sense of really doing something good for the Ocean by walking on her beautiful sand, picking up trash left by beach goers.


There are now quite a few of us taking care of the trash at Waimea Bay. We all know each other and love keeping Waimea as clean as we can. I try to carry as much rubbish as i can. It saves trips up and down Waimeas long walk up the beach to the grassy park where the rubbish dumpsters are kept.




So this weekend I ...in my bathing suit... early in the morning ...was walking along with all this trash...




There where two tourists who came early to the beach and only saw me walking with all these bags of rubbish. I hear, " OH! its a HOBO!"






I smiled... WHO else carries bags of rubbish?








I am an island HOBO gal............

Sorry, but I can't help but laugh at that. I hope you don't feel insulted, but its seems like an American kind of comment to make, cause I have never heard such over here.

How rude, but wow you took it so nicely-I would of said, 'no I have to clean up after you folks to help keep our beaches and waters clean and beautiful for others to enjoy'-idiots!

Well I know being a mom, I use to carry trash- when u have kids u invariably are carrying some sort of trash aren't u? lol....Kids always eating, hence the trash...

The Splash

The water in the Bay has calmed down enough for me to swim into the big cave at the bay. I enter the crystal clear water of a little bay that's sits within the Big bay and made my way toward the cave. The tides are still high, the ocean not quite ready for the low low tides of summer. I enter the big cave that is still partially filled with water. The tide is pushing me in and out of the cool cave like a ride at the carnival! In and out... in and out of the cave, all the while I'm trying like crazy to get a picture from the inside of the cave looking out. Spring .. Let the Waiting Begin.

I was standing in the sun but soon those dark clouds were over me dumping rain so cold it sent scores of people flying up the beach for shelter. And so it is here in Hawaii, its called duck in and duck out...rain one minute, sun the next. Winter is not quite ready to leave us on land. BUT.... The Ocean tells a different story! The water is warmer than the rain, and she is clearing up. The snow storms under water are becoming lighter and as you can see the BLUE is incredible! My goal again this year as in the past 3 years is to get dolphin pictures right where this turtle is! Wish me luck, this is very shallow water. oh, but the pictures would be magnificent would they not? The dolphins will be here soon, passing the Bay and at times entering the Bay in joyous harmony...I am delighted .... Let the waiting begin!
